There was rejoicing in Dallas-Fort Worth Wednesday night as the Nets struck out in the lottery. The Nets now with fewer assets to lure Dwight Howard, Maverick beat writers believe, and thus like their team's chances of getting Deron Williams in free agency. In Orlando, however, a Magic writer lamented the end of their dream of an Anthony Davis for Howard trade.
"What transpired Wednesday was a step in the right direction of possibly making that happen," wrote Dwain Price of the Mavs' D-Will-to-Dallas hopes in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
