At least two Springfield Armor players will be in Orlando in July to play for the Nets' summer league entry. Jeff Foote and Dennis Horner have accepted invitations. Meanwhile, Milton Lee and Bob MacKinnon will pull double duty this summer, working out draft prospects with the Nets and scouting others for the Armor.

Everyone sees the Nets' $300,000 investment in the hybrid affiliation as one of their smarter ones. It would have been smart if only because seeing Gerald Green up close --and recommending him-- helped Billy King and Avery Johnson pull the trigger on his call-up. More than that, within the team's development strategy (see Off-Season Report), the Armor has become a crucial element.

As Ben Couch writes for the Nets website, the Armor's success was the Nets' success was the players' success.
