The Springfield Armor's precedent-setting season ended Monday night when the Canton Charge beat them, 115-106, and won the best two out of three first round playoff. The Charge out-rebounded the Armor, 48-31 and out-shot the Armor, 56.2% to 44%. The Charge now moves on to the second round.
L..D. Williams led the Armor with 27 and 7 while JamesOn Curry and Dennis Horner finished with 24 and 21. Jeff Foote and Jerry Smith, both D-League All-Stars, had disappointing games.
"We had a great group of guys from day one in training camp, we all put a lot of work in it and from day one we were committed to what coach MacKinnon and coach (Chris) Carrawell and what (general manager Milton Lee) brought to the table,'' said a red-eyed Williams. "I can't be more proud of these guys because we all stuck together.''
