The Armor reached yet another milestone this weekend when for the first time they clinched a playoff spot. After a win on Friday, enough tiebreakers fell their way to push them into the post-season. For a team that had won only 20 of their first 100 games before tying their fortunes to the Nets, it's a big deal.
In what might have been a letdown Sunday, Springfield lost in overtime, 110-101, to the Maine Red Claws in Portland. As usual, the Armor displayed balanced scoring, with five players in double figures. Lance Hurdle and Jerry Smith each scored 19 while Jeff Foote had another double-double, with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Playoffs begin next week.
