Armor Falls Out of First Place

The Armor had two opportunities to take sole possession of first place in the D-League East this weekend, but twice lost to their New England rival, the Maine Red Claws and now one game behind the Iowa Energy. The loss on Sunday was particularly galling. After letting Morris Almond score 34 against them on Saturday, they watched Kenny Hayes score 52 on Sunday, including 17 straight.

Hayes who was averaging 15 points a game before Sunday, hit 18-of-29 from the field, including 4-for-8 from deep. He made all 12 of his free throws. Almond, his backcourt mate, added 31. For the Armor, Jerry Smith, D-League player of the month had 30 and Dennis Horner 21. Jeff Foote, the Armor's seven footer, had a sub-par game, with eight and five, tweeting afterwards that it's time for him and the team to "re-focus."
