Anyone who has ever seen a European basketball game knows that players uniforms are festooned with ads, large and small. In some cases, team names even include the names of sponsors.
No NBA team has accepted uniform jersey ads, although the Nets were the first to put ads, for PNY, on its practice jerseys and training facility. WNBA teams can sell space, although D-League teams cannot. In April, the NBA will debate such ads. Brett Yormark, for one, thinks it's a great idea.
"It’s a league decision, but as someone who spent seven years at NASCAR, I know the value of putting a brand on the playing field and the uniform, so it is certainly something I would support," he said.
