Mikhail Prokhorov is heavily invested in two sports ventures: ownership of the Nets and the presidency of the Russian Biathlon Union. Neither are doing very well right now. No need to chronicle the Nets' problems. Biathlon, a big sport in Russia, is having just as bad a time. Despite heavy investment, Russia failed miserably in the recent World Cup.
While there have been calls for changes in the coaching staff, Prokhorov says the blame is misplaced. "The guilt is all mine, don’t touch the others," Prokhorov said after the World Cup on Sunday. The coaches should stay, but needed to form bonds with the athletes, he said. "Some things have worked, some haven’t worked, but the important thing is that there’s forward movement."
