Are the Magic Making Last Calls?

Ken Berger reports that the Magic have spoken to the Bulls about a trade that would send Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu to Chicago for a package of Omer Asik, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer and possibly the Bobcats' protected first round pick. It's the Magic's preferred return, but...

Without assurances from Howard or his camp that he'd be willing to sign long-term with the Bulls, Chicago executives have exhibited no appetite for trade talks with the Magic. The two teams have spoken, but there's "no type of serious discussions" going on, a person familiar with the situation said.

The Berger report, combined with Mitch Lawrence's report that the Warriors have offered Monta Ellis and David Lee for Howard, could indicate that the Magic is making a last round of calls before it makes its decision on whether to trade the All-Star center to one of his preferred teams or keep him. Still, Berger quotes a "league source" as saying, "He's telling everyone he's leaving."
