Rumors Du Jour? - Expect More

Presswire

Buried at the bottom of Brian Schmitz blog Sunday afternoon was an intriguing if unsourced paragraph that laid out the latest trade rumor surrounding Dwight Howard.

The Magic would send Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson to the Lakers and the Magic would receive Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. A third team, the Toronto Raptors, could be part of the deal or in a separate trade with the Magic, sending point guard Jose Calderon to Orlando.

Within hours, the Magic denied it, the paragraph was excised and attention turned to another rumor, this one from Craig Sager that Howard's mom had advised him that he should stay in Orlando. (Howard politely told his mother to butt out.)

Even that wasn't the end of it. Jarrod Rudolph, who writes for RealGM, tweeted the Magic GM, Otis Smith will "aggressively" pursue Steve Nash, citing "multiple sources". One source he apparently didn't consult was the Suns management who by the third quarter of the All-Star game had told David Aldridge they have no interest in dealing Nash. Next?
