PTI Does Simplistic Take On Jay-Z

If you go to PTI for trenchant (even incisive) analysis of the world of sports, don't expect much. Take Friday, when Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon discussed whether Jay-Z could make the Nets "cool".

Kornheiser: "I think you gotta win. I think you have to bring in good free agents. Nice if you have good champagne, Nice if you have good silverware, but you know basketball players can buy their own great champagne. Jay-Z's been around for a couple of years now and they will stink. Their best player has said he wants to leave (!!), Deron Williams."

Wilbon: "You have to appeal to players. Jay-Z is not signing players. he's got to appeal to sponsors and all sorts of high rollers. What you can do, Tony, is attract more owners, to pay the luxury tax and then bring in people and not care nearly enough." Mikhail Prokhorov needs money? Who knew?
