Blatche Will Miss Avery But Says Nets Will Rebound
In tweets on Thursday and in comments since, Andray Blatche has expressed his surprise and dismay at Avery Johnson's firing. He told HoopsWorld, "Definitely tough to see Avery go. He's the one who gave me a chance." He thinks Nets will be fine.

King: "We have not contacted anybody"
Billy King echoed his boss Sunday in an interview with ESPN Radio, saying "P.J. is our coach," and said that will continue until the Nets "re-evaluate" things. He would not put a timetable on that but added they haven't contacted anybody yet.

When Jackson and Prokhorov Sized Each Other Up
When the Nets were looking for a coach in 2010, they made back channel overtures to Phil Jackson, apparently at Mikhail Prokhorov's request. Phil's response was to call Prokhorov an "interesting young man" who he'd like to have vodka with.

MarShon Hoping For Better Days Without Avery
MarShon Brooks and Avery Johnson did not mesh. Johnson was frustrated with his lack of aggressiveness on defense. Brooks was frustrated by his lack of playing time. That's over now. How many minutes will he get under P.J. Carlesimo?

Mirza Fans Hoping for Minutes
With Avery Johnson's demise, fans of Mirza Teletovic are hoping for more minutes for the Bosnian rookie. Teletovic did play a little less than seven minutes Friday night, scoring two points on 1-for-3 shooting with a rebound, steal and assist.

Avery Johnson, who was coach of the month in November, was fired Thursday following a month-long discussion of his future by Nets ownership. P.J. Carlesimo, who's previously coached three NBA teams, will take over as interim coach.
