Fenerbahce was upset in Euroleague play Thursday, losing to Mapooro Cantu of Italy. So complete was Cantu's 82-58 defense that Fener's high scorer tallied only ten points. Bojan Bogdanovic, who led a futile run in the second quarter, had eight points on eight shots, making four. He went to the line only once.
Ilkan Karaman, the other Euro-Net on Fener's roster, scored seven points on 3-for-7 shooting but grabbed only three rebounds. Fener, who spend wildly in the off-season, is now 3-2 in Euroleague play. Cantu is 2-3. After the game, Fener's coach, Simone Piangiani, told Italy's La Stampa that giving minutes to Bogdanovic and Karaman is increasingly important.
