Would the Nets really site their new training facility in Manhattan, home of the Knicks?!? Apparently so. The Commercial Observer reports that the Nets have cooled on the idea of putting their training facility on a pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and considering other sites in Brooklyn...and Manhattan.
"A source familiar with the team’s search said it had since decided against the Red Hook site and is now looking at other locations in Brooklyn and also in Manhattan, an area few expected the team to turn to," reports Daniel Geiger. There's no word on where the 75,000 square foot facility might be located in Manhattan, but any Manhattan site would have to be seen as a new diss for the Knicks ... and signal the Nets are seeking the affection of not just Brooklynites.
Geiger reports that the facility, which is expected to be new facility, not a refurbished warehouse, would include at the very least basketball courts as well as space for a gym, locker room and cafeteria. There'd also be training facilities and office space for basketball operations staff.
