Joe Johnson happy with new anti-flopping rules

Greg M. Cooper-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The NBA instituted a new anti-flopping rule on Wednesday, and Joe Johnson is happy with it.

"I'm not a flopper, so it's going to work to my advantage," Johnson said Thursday. "I'm always the guy who they are flopping on. Hopefully, they will take it out of the game and it will make the game a lot better."

Flops will be legislated by video review after games and won't be addressed during play. Players will receive a warning for their first flop, and will be fined in increasing amounts for each successive flop. A flop is defined as "any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player."

"Its messing up the game, man," Johnson said. "So I'm glad they put it in, honestly."
