The Nets announced Friday afternoon that they have exercised the third-year contract option on guard MarShon Brooks. Brooks is entering his second season, but the Nets had until the end of the month to exercise their rookie-scale option on his third year. As a first-round pick, he has an additional option year after that.
Because Brooks is the only second or third-year player on the team, the Nets have no other options they have to decide on before Oct. 31. Brooks will earn $1,210,080 in 2013-14.
