Sometime Thursday afternoon, New York time, Deron Williams and family will exit an aircraft at Istanbul's Ataturk Aiport where they're likely to be greeted by the same kind of welcome that his teammate Jordan Farmar got in Israel and Corey Maggette received in Greece: cheering, stomping, banner waving European hoops fans.
After a one-day delay, Williams left the United States at around 10 p.m. Wednesday for Turkey and training camp with Besiktas in Istanbul. His teammates will reportedly include Zaza Pachulia and David Hawkins, his backcourt mate who played for the Jazz summer league team in 2006.
Besiktas opens its EuroCup season vs. Dexia Mons of Belgium on September 27.
