One day after being rested in an Italian exhibition series, Deron Williams returned to the court Saturday and had what for him has to be considered a mediocre game: in 35 minutes, he had 18 points on 5-for-13 shooting (1-for-6 from deep), 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 turnovers, five of them travels...a not uncommon call by FIBA refs.
In a tweet, D-Will wrote, "Bad game for the team didn't play to well! I'm trying to get used to the international travel had 5 of them today #whack". In an earlier response to Chase Budinger, he wrote, "happy to be playing basketball."
Besiktas which won without Williams on Friday lost, 95-84, to Pistoia of Italy, a second string Italian League team. The tournament continues play tomorrow.
