Sundiata Gaines is in a bad position. He's recovering from a broken hip and his contract, while guaranteed for next year, is only for next year. If the lockout lasts the whole season, he would once again be a free agent and everyone's last memory of him would be limping off the court and into the locker room last March.
So in addition to playing in both the Rucker League and the Nike Pro-City this summer, he's thinking of joining his backcourt mates overseas. Deron Williams, Sasha Vujacic, Jordan Farmar and Mario West have all signed in Europe.
"I’m not sure yet," he said. "If it comes around that time and we’re still in a lockout, I’m always considering my options. I got my options open." He said he's just waiting to see what happens." Gaines played in Italy in 2008.
