Barclays "Spotlights" Local Shops as Critics' Arena Complaints Linger

Neighbors of the Barclays Center are still none too happy with things like new nightclubs, rats migrating from the construction site, heavy truck traffic and construction debris left untended.  There's a new website, Atlantic Yards Watch, set up to highlight those issues and the state is looking for a community relations manager.

Meanwhile, the Nets and the arena have begun "spotlighting" local shopowners who favor the 18,000-seat arena, ones happy to have a high-profile neighbor.  The first is a clothier, Vinnie's Styles, which has two shops within a block of the arena and features Brooklyn-styled shirts and jackets and some Nets gear. The family-owned operation tells Jaclyn Sabol (aka Jac of all Nets) they believe the arena and arrival of the Nets will be good for them, good for Brooklyn.
