Basketball Reference each year measures who are the top offensive players in the NBA when up against top defenses. For the second year in a row, Deron Williams is in the top three. Williams, who's the only NBA player to average 20 points and 10 assists last season, finished third in this season's calculations.
The only two players above Williams in 2010-11 were MVP Derrick Rose and Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki. In 2009-10, Williams also finished third, behind MVP LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Against less than average defenses, BR reports the Nets point guard finished 19th last season and 13th the season before.
