Brooks: My Goal Is Starting Shooting Guard

31

In an interview with Evan Roberts and Joe Benigno, MarShon Brooks left no doubt about where he sees himself in the Nets' plans: starting shooting guard on opening night. "That's my goal," he told Benigno. "I think I'm ready to play right away. ... I'm ready to go. I have a chance to come in and play right away. I'm just very honored to be in this situation." Brooks also said he can defend and was Providence's "defensive stopper" his sophomore and junior years but his coach wanted him to preserve his energy for scoring as a senior. As if he had known he was going to the Nets before the trade was announced, Brooks said he learned he'd be a Net "three minutes after I left the stage" and was "not disappointed one bit."
