Hello Brooklyn, How Ya Doing?

New Jersey Nets
New Jersey Nets

Avery Johnson is all about Brooklyn this summer.  Reading to kids at the Brooklyn Central Library.  Visiting Mikhail Prokhorov's supersuite at Barclays Center... and Tuesday night, throwing out the first pitch at the Brooklyn Cyclones game in Coney Island, sticking around to watch the game and sign autographs.

The Nets coach is becoming the Nets' highest profile ambassador to the borough.  It's all about pitching the team to a market (or markets) the team needs. Only eight percent of the team's current season ticket holders live in Brooklyn, although a reported 40 percent of those who've bought tickets for Barclays Center are from the borough.  But as the Wall Street Journal reports, with the Dodgers, "there is a historical precedent for a team with a loyal following."
