For D-Will, It's Follow the Leader

Mikhail Prokhorov has long said he wants a team headlined by superstars.  Avery Johnson has said it every chance he gets. So has the guy tasked with actually building the team, Billy King.  Now, Deron Williams has again made it clear he wants to play with other great players, citing the model for everyone nowadays: the Heat.

"I hope so," Williams said during an exclusive phone interview with the Record Wednesday. "That’s what we’re going to have to do. We talk a lot about getting some athletes in there. We have some good pieces and athletes, but we need some more. We need to be a team that can get up and down and lock down defensively when we have to."

D-Will made it clear he wants some immediate results. "I want to win. That’s what I want to do. I’m not really interested in being a part of an extended rebuilding process. They know that. They understand that. You go from there".

And in an interview with a Utah paper, Williams declined to talk about the trade. "It's over and done with now — no reason to talk about it," he said. "It is what it is. Best of luck to the Utah Jazz and their franchise. They got some good draft picks for me, so hopefully they pan out for them."
