Mayor Michael Bloomberg has become one of the first people to buy Nets seasons tickets for the 2012-13 season, plunking down an undisclosed amount of money to secure four seats at Barclays Center. "The Nets are going to provide some great entertainment," he said. "It's going to be exciting basketball."
Bloomberg hosted Mikhail Prokhorov when he came to New York a year ago and has been among the Nets biggest supporters in getting the arena approved and built.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg took the New York Post to task for reporting that newly released Securities and Exchange Commission documents suggest Bruce Ratner wouldn't complete Atlantic Yards beyond the Nets' 18,000-seat arena.
Bloomberg said those types of filings are necessary because companies are required to spell out all potential problems for investors, no matter how unlikely. Bloomberg would know. He made his 11-figure fortune relaying financial news and data to investors.
