Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside, the SBNation D-League blog, reports via Twitter that "the Nets' D-League coaching job is a hot topic right now. Heard from a few coaches today saying it'll be the best job in the D-League."
There are a lot of reasons why: the close connection with an NBA club and comments from both Billy King and Bobby Marks that the Armor head coach will be treated like a Nets assistant; will be a Nets employee and will be considered for a job on the Nets bench when they open up. And of course, with Mikhail Prokhorov as Nets owner, resources are not likely to be an issue. The Nets are budgeting $250,000 for a coach, assistant coach and trainer.
Current Armor coach Dee Brown is being considered for the job but team officials have also developed a list of other candidates they will interview. Nets have said they expect to have the coach and assistant in place by the Draft.
