Billy King made it clear to Bruce Beck that he is quite confident Deron Williams will sign an extension with the Nets, perhaps as early as this summer, lockout depending. Asked by Beck if he can keep Williams, King answered simply, "Yes".
King also said the skills D-Will showed in his limited time with the Nets gave him confidence he could break one of the game's most prized records. "Next year, with a full training camp, I think he can go after that Scott Skiles' record of 30," referring to the NBA record for most assists in a game.
King also said the team won't wait until 2012 free agency to make changes. "Next year we want to be in the playoffs. I don't want to be sitting here, no offense, talking to you."
