Isiah Richberg, age 15, is Brett Yormark's kind of fan. He may have liked the Knicks in the past, but now, with a new team in town, the Brooklyn teen is switching allegiances.
He's not just a Nets fan now, but someone who is anticipating the opening of Barclays Center in September 2012.
"I think it's cool. I like the Nets. So the first game, I want to go see it," said Richberg, who has watched the Knicks at the Garden but now thinks he'll be putting up a poster of Jason Kidd in his bedroom. "Because it's Brooklyn, it's across the street, down a block from my house. It's my team now."
As WNYC points out in a report on the arena's construction progress, not everyone is happy with the arena, but among the younger crowd, the Nets are becoming "cool".
