It might seem innocent, even inspiring, but this video and this photograph of Jay-Z congratulating John Calipari's Kentucky Wildcats could cost the Nets or its minority investor some cash. Under NBA rules, teams or their representatives can't have contact with college players until they declare for the Draft.
Stefan Bondy reports that if the NBA follows precedent, Jay-Z is likely to face not much more than a slap on the wrist, noting that Danny Ainge got hit with a $30,000 fine for sitting with Kevin Durant's mother in 2007 and the Knicks were fined $200,000 for illegal workouts in 2008.
