To the surprise of no one, Sundiata Gaines has been given a second 10-day contract. The 6'1" Queens native has played well since being signed, averaging six points and two assists filling in as third point guard in the Nets' two London games. At the end of the second 10-day, they have to decide whether to keep him.
Meanwhile, the Nets got some bad news on the condition of Damion James. James, tweets Stefan Bondy, "has a Grade 1 concussion, still has symptoms. Will be out longer than anticipated." Initially, it was believed that James would be out two games. Now, it looks like a minimum of three. With Quinton Ross out through the middle of next week with a bad back, the Nets have limited back-up at the small forward. The team also has 15 players on the roster, meaning they can't add a second 10-day contract.
With James and Deron Williams out, the Nets will start Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow, Sasha Vujacic, Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries vs. Golden State.
