With none of the Nets beat reporters in Merry Olde England, there's not been a lot of news about player views on Mikhail Prokhorov's plans for a global team (and for making his superstar "King of the World, the first truly global basketball player"). But ESPN and the players' official sites have tried to fill the gap. So far they like the idea.
Sasha Vujacic, who holds a Slovenian passport, advised ESPN not to dismiss the owner's plans. "Besides becoming a global franchise, the thing is, he wants to win a championship, which is important," said Vujacic. "We’re heading in the right direction. We know it’s not going to be done overnight."
Johan Petro, aka Frenchy, writes on his site, "We understand the whole globalization of the game. We know we're a different kind of team, especially with our owner, Mikhail Prokhorov."
As for Deron Williams of the US of A, he's said all the right things lately, but his website seems to say even more.
