It's a tale of two teams who went into 2010-11 with a lot of questions and not a lot of hope. The Nets questions quickly outweighed their hopes but for the 76ers, hope and a solid coaching job by Doug Collins won out. The Sixers can clinch a playoff slot Friday with a win over the Nets on their home court.
After going 3-13 at the beginning of the season, Philly has gone 36-23 since, fourth best in the East over that time period. The Nets have gone 18-40. Among the questions that were answered by the SIxers was the health of Elton Brand who has played in all but one of the team's games and is averaging 14.7 and 8.4. Another was the progress of Jrue Holiday who has killed the Nets, even getting his first triple double the last time the two met.
For the Nets, it's been frustration after frustration, interrupted only by the trade for Deron Williams. And while there's been a lot of talk of how the Nets and Knicks match up, there's been little about how their future looks compared to their Turnpike rivals. Deron Williams is expected to play, but Damion James remains out. The newest--and 22nd Net of 2010-11--Mario West should be available. He will wear No. 6.
