In the aftermath of Kentucky's regional final win over North Carolina at the Prudential Center on Sunday, Nets minority owner Jay-Z was photographed in the UK locker room. The rapper presumably has a relationship with Kentucky (and former Net) coach John Calipari through William Wesley, aka "Worldwide Wes."
Well, the problem is that NBA team personnel aren't allowed to make contact with college players before they declare for the draft, and the Kentucky roster includes a pair of potential lottery picks. So Ken Berger reports that the NBA will look into the matter and cites a previous case where Celtics GM Danny Ainge sat with Kevin Durant's mother at the Big 12 Tournament in 2007. Ainge was fined $30,000.
Also in Berger's notebook is the idea that, in pursuing Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks missed the opportunity to get Deron Williams.
