The Nets announced Sunday morning that they have signed Sundiata Gaines to a multi-year contract. Stefan Bondy reports that Gaines has parlayed two 10-day contracts --and a string of solid performances-- into a guaranteed two-year deal with the Nets. Gaines played with the Raptors and Timberwolves earlier this season.

Gaines, who gets pro-rated deal this season, will receive veteran's minimum of $884,293 for next season. The Archbishop Molloy product and Jamaica, Queens, native was ecstatic.

"It feels great, kind of a big relief," said Gaines.

With the Gaines deal, eight Nets have contracts that extend into 2011-12: Deron Williams, Travis Outlaw, Brook Lopez, Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro and Damion James. Stephen Graham has a team option for next year that must be exercised by July 5.  In addition, the Nets currently have two draft  picks, the Lakers first round pick and their own second rounder.
