According to the latest monthly progress report for arena bondholders, Barclays Center remains "slightly ahead of schedule", despite the rough weather this winter. The arena, which the Nets are now referring to as "the first billion dollar arena", should be "substantially" completed in a little less than 15 months, June 1, 2012. The arena is expected to open with a summer concert series, then a Nets preseason game as early as October 17 and the official opening October 31.
The "Site Observation Report," dated March 3, notes that 16% of work on the arena is now complete, along with 27.5% of the work on the Barclays Center Transit Connection. Environmental work, which includes water and sewer upgrades, is now 95.1% complete.
