Brooklynites and other Nets fans will soon get their first look at the weathered steel outer "skin" of Barclays Center, which team officials and architects hope will give the arena an iconic look. State officials have announced that a "visual mock-up" of the "facade panels" that make up the "skin" is going up soon.
The mock-up will be erected in the next few weeks at 752 Pacific Street in Brooklyn, down the street from the arena construction site. The panels, which weigh up to 9,500 pounds, will be attached this spring to the blast-proof curtain wall that will enclose the arena. They are manufactured by ASI Limited in Indianapolis.
