Travis Outlaw had a lot of success as a sixth man playing in Portland, not so much as a starter in New Jersey.
So Avery Johnson plans to try the struggling Outlaw as a sub once Damion James returns from a broken foot later this month. The 6'8" James will be inserted in the starting lineup at SF, Johnson says.
"Eventually, we’d like to get (Travis) Outlaw back coming off the bench. That’s the long-range plan,’’ Johnson said. "We just can’t do it right now. We’re waiting on Damion James."
James, taken at #24 in the draft, started his first game vs. the Mavericks on December 9, but broke his right foot and has been out since.
