If the Nets fail to trade for Carmelo Anthony, they are expected be active between whenever the 'Melo Drama ends and Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline. In addition to the rumored deal with the Portland Trailblazers, there's word that the Nets have found a taker for Troy Murphy: his old team the Golden State Warriors.
As reported by CSN Bay Area, Murphy would be shipped to Golden State along with a second round pick for Dan Gadzuric, a 6'11" journeyman power forward, and Brandan Wright, a 6'10" forward whose lottery promise has been hurt by injuries and a reputation as a tweener. Gadzuric, 33, is on the last year of a six year deal. Wright, 23, is in the last year of his rookie deal. He was drafted eighth in the 2007 Draft.
The Warriors would not keep Murphy but waive him, permitting the 6'11" forward to sign a new deal with a contender by March 1. Murphy has never appeared in a playoff game.
