When Booing Is Its Own Punishment

New, comments

The NBA has only been open for two days and Kris Humphries is the league's leading rebounder (Damion James is tied for second) and the likely leader in boos per touch (DJ not so much). Yet, The Most Hated Player in the NBA looked like he was having a grand time Monday night in Washington in spite of it all.

Before the game, he made light of his Most Hated title, telling Jessica Taff of YES, "How does that happen? We need to get that poll audited."

But really, what the heck is this all about? Avery Johnson is mystified, "I don’t know why. I’m trying to figure out, what did he do?" Johnson said. "I’m serious. Maybe because I don’t follow reality TV, I don’t know all the ins and outs of it but it’s pretty hilarious to me."

Shaun Powell of NBA.com might have the best explanation: "For those who complained they were 'duped' by a reality show wedding, perhaps that’s more a reflection on … them, maybe?"
