Backcourt Big Strength...On Offense

New, comments

Mike Mazzeo of ESPN New York is breaking down the Nets roster and starts from strength, the Nets backcourt which if only because of Deron Williams has to be counted among the best in the NBA, on offense. Mazzeo cites the amazing offensive abilities --and consistency-- of the five guards with guaranteed deals.

But he also suggests that the Nets backcourt is not what you would call an defensive juggernaut. Williams is "capable of playing tenacious defense when he wants to," he writes. Anthony Morrow "isn't a great defender by any means", Marshon Brooks "defense still leaves much to be desired" although he could improve. As for Jordan Farmar and Sundiata Gaines, Mazzeo is silent on their defense.
