David Diamante, the rooster-coiffed ring announcer for HBO Boxing, will be the new voice of the Nets, both this year in Newark and next year in Brooklyn, reports Stefan Bondy. He will make his debut Saturday at the Prudential Center.
Although born in Baltimore, Diamante calls Brooklyn home. Most of his work has been as ring announcer for boxing matches, including the HBO World Championship Boxing and HBO Boxing After Dark; as well as ESPN, Showtime, SNY and MSG. In addition, David has announced in Spanish on Televisa and Azteca America.
His family has long lived in Fort Greene, near Barclays Center and in 2009, he opened Diamante’s Brooklyn Cigar Lounge in the neighborhood. And yes, he did participate in the Brooklyn auditions.
