Al Iannazzone tweets that before the Nets delve into free agency or trades, they will hire two assistants, Mario Elie, lead assistant of the Kings, and P.J. Carlesimo, who had the same role with the Raptors. Both New York natives, the two have long been rumored as Avery Johnson's choices. Iannazzone reported Elie and Carlesimo will be hired when the CBA is made official.
Larry Krystkowiak (University of Utah) and John Loyer (Pistons) have both left Johnson's staff. It's also been reported that Sam Mitchell is unlikely to return and Popeye Jones will take on additional responsibilities. Moreover, the two Springfield Armor coaches, Bob MacKinnon and Chris Carrawell, are Nets employees. The team had seven assistant coaches last season.
