The Nets' D-League era began with a win Friday night, as a veteran and rookie combined to help the Springfield Armor overcome a 32.9% field goal percentage to beat the Maine Red Claws. Jerry Smith, the vet, scored 22 points and handed out five assists while rookie Dennis Horner, the team's tallest player at 6'9"--and a Jersey guy, had a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Nets took over the Armor's basketball operations in May. The Armor now has only one NBA affiliate, the Nets.
