With Chris Taft, at 6'10", and James Smith, at 7'0", waived Tuesday, the Armor will go into Friday's opener with an undersized line-up. Only Dennis Horner, 6'9, 230 out of North Carolina State, and Jamar Brown, 6'10, 235, from Colorado State-Pueblo, are taller than 6'7". Still, Bob MacKinnon remains optimistic.
"We’re ready to get after it," MacKinnon said. "The shame of it is we play then have to sit a week, but the games will come quick enough."
Not everyone is optimistic. Scott Schroeder of Ridiculous Upside puts the Armor near the bottom of the D-League's Eastern Conference, but mainly because he doesn't know who's who.
Schroeder also reported that Taft has a bone bruise in his knee (others reported an issue with his meniscus). In any event, writes Schroeder, the ex-Warrior "is still an option in the Nets' system".
