TMZ, the celebrity gossip site, is reporting that Kim Kardashian will divorce Kris Humphries Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences." According to TMZ, the reality TV star has hired Laura Wasser, "who has repped the likes of Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Angelina Jolie, Ryan Reynolds, and Robyn Gibson, Mel's almost ex-wife".
The two have reportedly been in a downward spiral since their wedding outside Santa Barbara on August 20, with video of a purported argument surfacing last week. It's been no secret that Kardashian's family haven't been enamored of Humphries and a Minneapolis gossip columnist has reported the feeling is mutual in the Humphries family. Humphries reportedly didn't know his wife of 72 days was filing for divorce.
He tells TMZ, "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents," adding, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce ... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Now, Kim has released her statement: "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned."
The news was first confirmed by Ryan Seacrest, Kardashian's producer, via Twitter. The news comes just two days after it was reported that Humphries had been ripped off by a friend with whom he invested several hundred thousand dollars. Andrey C. Hicks was arrested in Canada over the weekend after being charged with wire fraud. Hicks had attended the $10 million wedding.
