Free Agency Still Weeks Away But Rumors Have Already Started

Even if a deal is reached in principle this weekend,  free agency (and trading season) probably won't begin until around November 18, after the new CBA is ratified by both owners and players and the full text of the agreement is written up and approved. That's not stopping rumors from spreading.

Start with Chris Bernucca of Sheridan Hoops who handicaps teams' chances of landing Dwight Howard. He doesn't think the Nets chances are good, putting them at 50-1, suggesting an offer of Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Anthony Morrow and two first-round picks. "This is the sort of package the Magic will receive if they wait too long to deal Howard," writes Bernucca. He thinks most likely trade is D12 to the Lakers.

Meanwhile, Deron Williams and Jamal Crawford were having fun with Twitter this morning, suggesting they could wind up playing with each other.  There have been occasional reports of Nets interest in the 2010 Sixth Man of the Year.
