Every chance they get, the people who run the Nets and Barclays Center are continuing the competition their bosses started last summer with the "Blueprint for Greatness" ad opposite James Dolan's offices at 34th and 7th. The latest this week was the official unveiling of the Atlantic-10 Tournament at the Barclays Center.
It's the second college basketball tournament to make the move to Brooklyn and although you'd be hard-pressed to find any direct quotes on how Barclays is going to compete with the Garden, reporters covering the event didn't miss the message. As Andy Katz wrote for ESPN.com, "Get ready for quite a rivalry between the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan for college basketball’s hot properties...Don’t be surprised to see the new-look ACC and Big East in competition for games and conference tournaments in these two buildings for years to come."
