Humphries, Vujacic Nets' Constants

The team's two stars have been inconsistent.  One of the two big off-season acquisitions isn't playing well. The other one isn't playing, period. There have been injuries here and there and a trade. But in the midst of all that, two Nets have been playing with the consistency others haven't: Kris Humphries and newly acquired Sasha Vujacic.

The Nets didn't want Humphries to return. Vujacic was barely playing in L.A. and replaced a fan favorite. Their coach, however, appreciates them...particularly the new guy: "Just watch him a lot of times in timeouts and in our huddles," Avery Johnson said. "He’s really an encourager to the rest of his teammates. We needed that, especially during tough times in games."

Humphries, in fact, is thinking playoffs...did he say playoffs?!? Yes, he did. As for the elephant in the room, Carmelo Anthony, Fred Kerber says nothing is new.  The Nets are still waiting on Denver, still combing the nooks and crannies of the NBA looking for a third team if that's what the deal entails.  And he notes the Nets are confident he will sign an extension. "Why on earth would they do all this if not?"
