Jared Sullinger Gets Nets' Attention

Jared Sullinger, Ohio State's 6'9", 250 pound (at least) behemoth under the boards, is getting a lot of attention from the Nets this week, in spite of the team's youth up front.  Al Iannazzone reports that Billy King is scouting Sullinger vs. Northwestern Saturday in Evanston, IL.  Tuesday, another contingent of Nets scouts was reportedly on hand in Columbus when he played Purdue.

The Nets aren't saying why they're looking at the top ranked power forward, although the Nets religiously stuck with the "best player available" philosophy under Rod Thorn. Otherwise, Sullinger would seem to be redundant in the mix of big men up front. Brook Lopez, 22, is seen as untouchable and if the Carmelo Anthony deal is off the table, so is 19-year-old Derrick Favors.  And just last week, Avery Johnson said he wants 25-year-old Kris Humphries back.
