At the end of a halftime interview Monday night, Billy King told Seth Everett that Troy Murphy is likely going to rejoin the team "until something does happen." The Nets have told Murphy they will try to trade him.
King said that "Troy wants back on the team. He'd like that." So, King says he'll talk to Murphy's agent, Dan Fegan, and Murphy. The 6'11" power forward hasn't played since December 29. He was rumored to be headed to Detroit in the latest round of Carmelo Anthony trade rumors.
Meanwhile, while an NBA GM recently said that 'Melo to the Knicks is inevitable, Anthony seems pretty unsure of where he'll end up. When asked by the Denver Post if his options are "strictly New Jersey, New York, Chicago, Denver", he responded, "Yeah. But I really can’t say it’s just those, because I don’t really know (what could happen),” referring to the possibility of a trade. But he also said, “New Jersey took that deal off the table. In order for me to consider them, I’d have to agree to the meeting. Now, it’s washed under the table.”
Still, Adrian Wojnarowski insists the Nets will get back into it before the February 24 trade deadline. "One NBA executive close to the Denver and New Jersey front offices insisted on Tuesday: 'I’ve seen better acting in soap operas than [Mikhail] Prokhorov’s performance. The Nets will be back in this thing, but they’ll be back in on their terms – not Denver’s.' Nets officials continue to say, "we're done." We'll see.
