Nothing is definite and the stories were lightly sourced, but it appears that rising steel at Barclays Center is making the location attractive for both office and commercial tenants. In the past week, both Apple and Panasonic have been reported to be interested in joining the Nets in Brooklyn.
Apple, looking for its first store in Brooklyn, is reportedly interested in opening at or near the arena where there will be limited retail space on ground level along both Atlantic and Flatbush avenues. Meanwhile, Panasonic, which has its main US offices near the Nets current offices in New Jersey, is talking to Bruce Ratner about moving 800 employees to Brooklyn, possibly occupying an office tower planned next door to the arena.
